Christ tells us that his command is that we love one another. Falling in love is a very human experience, but that love is consecrated in Christian marriage. Human love becomes a sign of God's love. When two people pledge unconditional love for life, then they show what Christ's self-sacrificing love is like. It is here that we believe God offers his own love to strengthen and sustain that loving relationship. The sacrament of Matrimony is therefore a partnership with God, so that the couple in sharing their love share a special gift of God's love that they minister to each other. It is an enduring gift of love from God.
Marriage is therefore a key event in the couple's life, so the preparation for the wedding is important. If you want to be married in Church you need to fix the date with the parish priest and follow a course of preparation that helps you focus on the overall meaning of the commitment.
Special marriage preparation courses are run by Marriage Care. However here in the parish we will do all we can to help you come to the day of the wedding looking at the various practical and legal arrangements, but above all preparing for what is life-long and beautiful commitment.
Sometimes the arrangements for receptions etc. are made before checking out with the Church and that can cause complications, so please check with us in good time.
