A number of people in the parish receive Holy Communion at home, because their health is poor or various infirmities prevent them from attending Mass on a Sunday.
The parish has a good team of Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion who, along with the priests, visit the sick and housebound in the parish. This enables the sick and the housebound to feel a real connection with the parish. Because they may not be able to come to the church, the Church comes to them.
As well as receiving Holy Communion, which is food for the spiritual journey, the regular visits allow an opportunity to chat and catch up with what is happening in the Christian community.
Each person is remembered weekly in our parish prayers for the sick and housebound and their names are published in our weekly newsletter.
