Roof repairs for Our Lady of Mount Carmel

Friday, June 29, 2018 - 12:15

Following a storam on 30th May 2018 we discovered debris in the aisle of the Church from the roof and part of the suspended ceiling was damaged. Following an assessment by a local builder it was discovered that there was sever damage to the lime render on the underside of the main roof structure. To rectify the damage and prevent further issues from occurring it has been suggested that the lime render should be completely removed and replaced.

As a consequence of this issue it was thought essential to close the Church until the work has been undertaken.

We are at present negotiating with our insurance company regarding the work needed. When the work is carried out we will also be replacing the windows, carrying out work on the gutters, the soffits and fascia boards on the church.

Masses are at present taking place in the Welcome Centre at the rear of the Church.

The Shrine of St Jude is open as usual and can be accessed from the car park entrance.

Daily Masses take place in the Infant of Prague chapel just off the sacristy.
