Parish Mass Times Discussion

As many of you will know, Masses here in the parish of Faversham were reduced from 5 to 3 in April 2018. This was after a period of consultation with the Parish Council, the Area Bishop and after discussion at the Parish AGM in June 2017. Sunday Mass times then were as follows:

Saturday              6.00pm in Faversham
Sunday                 9.00am in Teynham
Sunday                 10.30am in Faversham

This continued until churches were closed due to the Covid19 Pandemic in 2020.

When public Mass was permitted in July 2020, the parish church re-opened but Greenstreet Chapel in Teynham remained closed (as it is not our building, we had no part in this decision). It has now been decided that the building will not remain as a chapel so we no longer have use of it. The 9.00am Mass in Teynham was transferred to Faversham, and moved back 30 minutes to 9.30am to allow people time to travel from that area. This meant that the 10.30am Mass had also to be moved to 11.00am to allow for a suitable period of time between the morning Masses. Thus, the weekend schedule became:

Saturday              6.00pm in Faversham
Sunday                 9.30am in Faversham
Sunday                 11.00am in Faversham

Since my arrival in November last, a number of people have asked me when / if Masses will return to their pre-covid times?
I would like to hear from as many of you as possible to discern what would best meet our needs and  have created an online poll (which will also be available on paper at Mass over the next few weekends).

Please do think and pray about this important aspect of our parish ministry.

The poll is available here: https://forms.gle/LtLwfsKEQMXqKCnv9

(It does ask for an email address, but if you would like to remain anonymous, use mine: kevinmelody@rcaos.org.uk )

The options are as follows:

Option 1: Saturday 6.00pm, Sunday 8.30am & 10.00am
Option 2: Saturday 6.00pm, Sunday 9.00am & 10.30am
Option 3: Saturday 6.00pm, Sunday 9.30am & 11.00am (current times)
Option 4: Email your suggestion to kevinmelody@rcaos.org.uk

Many thanks for your time,

Every blessing

Kevin
